smartSites previously offered the option to embed a translate widget that would allow users to select a language from a drop down menu and then the website would be translated into the selected language to the best of its ability. 

This widget is no longer supported by Google and the reason being is that modern browsers do all the leg work for you visitors in their native language, the browser will offer to translate the website as soon as they arrive. Google's Status page for the widget now shows this message - https://translate.google.com/intl/en-GB/about/website/
