Adding groups to groups in smartadmin

Creating a new group combining many existing groups

You can quickly add many groups of users to a new groups- this could be for combining several classes of users into one subject based class. For example All Year 7 English classes into one single group.

  1. Create a new Protected group e.g. Yr7-English as screenshot

  1. Now select the existing groups that you want to merge into your new Group. e.g. search groups using a wildcard search for en

  1. As above- this lists all groups containing 'en'. You can now tick the Year 7 groups that you want to merge into your new group and click the 'Add users to group' button

  1. Now type the name of the required Group into the yearch box. e.g. Yr7-English that we previoulsy created and hit the green 'Add group(s) below, to this group(s)' Button. This adds all membesr from the ticked groups into the new group.

  1. Now check your new group to ensure the usera are all added. See screenshot below for our new Yr7-English group.

  1. The new group is now synced to google and if you have google classroom sync switched ON a new Classroom has been created.
